The Historic Pride Flag 3' x 5' with grommets features the original eight-stripe design originated by Gilbert Baker in 1978. Baker assigned a specific meaning to each of the colors: Hot Pink - Sex, Red - Life, Orange - Healing, Yellow - Sunlight, Green - Nature, Turquoise - Magic/Art, Blue - Serenity and Violet - Spirit.
I had my first gay pride in San Francisco in 1978 at the tender age of 20. I remember that the rainbow flag in the Castro had 8 stripes -- with the top hot pink stripe and a turquoise one somewhere in the middle. I'm SOOO happy with the flag. Thank you!
